Scope of Services

Diagnostic Testing (all testing requires a physician's order)

Cardiac Stress Testing, including Regular and Nuclear

Cardiac Holter Monitoring

10-Day Cardiac Event Monitoring

Pulmonary Function Testing

Oximetry

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Testing (through Sleep Services of America)

Therapeutic Respiratory Care (All treatments require a physician's order)

Airway Management, including Mechanical Ventilation and Tracheostomy Management
(Inpatient and Emergency)

Aerosolized Medication Administration and Monitoring (Inpatient and Emergency)

Oxygen Administration and Evaluation (Inpatient and Emergency)

Bronchiopulmonary Hygiene (Inpatient)

Education

Pulmonary Rehabilitation (with Lifestyles Wellness Center)

Smoking Cessation

Better Breathers Support Group (for individuals with chronic pulmonary issues)

Clinical Site for the Respiratory Therapy program at Pitt Community College

Patient Education for Chronic Pulmonary Diseases

Community Education

Hours of Operation

Diagnostic Testing by appointment: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm

Therapeutic Respiratory Care: available to Inpatients and Emergency Department 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Staff

Cardiopulmonary Services staff maintain all licenses and credentials necessary to satisfy Joint Commission and third-party payer requirements, including Medicaid and Medicare.

All Respiratory Therapists are licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) and credentialed, either as Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapists, by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Staff providing diagnostic services are further credentialed through the NBRC for Pulmonary Function Testing and Polysomnography as required.

At least one diagnostic technician is credentialed as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDSM) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Staff may also hold certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
